As the cooler months approach us, so does the resurgence of unwanted guests in our homes: rodents. It's not uncommon for households to resort to rodent baits purchased from local hardware stores or supermarkets to tackle this issue. DIY baiting can control small rodent populations, however, if not done safely, improper application may jeopardise the health not only of rodents but also our beloved pets.
The rodent baits available in exposed wax block forms are particularly hazardous, often applied in reckless ways that endanger our furry companions. These wax blocks must be properly fixed down, preferably within purpose-built bait boxes securely fastened using screws or nails. Failure to do so can lead to rodents relocating the blocks from their initial placement, potentially within reach of pets. Pellet-form rodenticides can also be hazardous if not secured in tamper-proof containers that prevent spillage.

Do not throw blocks into the roof void or subfloor of the house, under the fridge or other kitchen appliances, or anywhere outdoors that isn't in a purpose made enclosure, as this will increase the risk of poisoning to pets or children.
